Dean Baquet, the new top editor at the NYT, published his first tweet Monday. Did you feel it?

Me neither.

The fact that Baquet had never tweeted was the topic of some discussion when he took over as executive editor last month, and his first tweet the topic of some anticipation in certain media circles. (What landed is a plain vanilla shoutout to longtime staffer NR Kleinfeld.)

But Baquet, a gregarious fella who came of age well before the social media revolution, doesn't seem likely to fully embrace the twitter. He seems more interested in being among the troops. And that's OK. He has people for that. And as The Observer notes, "Twitter can be very time-consuming, and some people have a paper to run."
